Blinn College women's soccer routed Jacksonville College 8-0 to earn its first Region 14 victory of the season Saturday in Jacksonville, Texas.
The Buccaneers improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in region play.
Blinn bounced back from a setback to No. 6 Tyler Junior College on Friday with a dominant performance that impressed Bucs head coach Alexandria Jackson.
"We're really happy with the response from the team," Jackson said. "After some difficult moments Friday, our players came out with the right mentality, competed for 90 minutes, and showed the quality and togetherness we know they're capable of. To score eight goals and keep a clean sheet shows what we can do when we play for each other and stay committed to the game plan."
The eight-goal outburst pushed Blinn's season total to 23, the most in program history through four matches.
Sophomore midfielder Taylor Bull opened the scoring in the 13th minute for her first of two goals on the day, converting an assist from sophomore midfielder Kaelynn Pablo.
Sophomore forward Khadeeja Rhoden doubled Blinn's advantage in the 36th minute when she scored on an assist from freshman forward Amanda Millar.
The Bucs turned up the pressure following halftime, erupting for six second-half goals.
Freshman forward Chelsea Mentado made it 3-0 in the 48th minute on an assist from Bull before Bull added her second goal of the match in the 56th minute off a give from Mentado.
Sophomore defender Dana Campos extended Blinn's lead to 5-0 in the 66th minute with sophomore midfielder Chloey Mejia providing the assist. Millar followed with a goal in the 75th minute off an assist from Rhoden.
Rhoden netted her second goal of the match in the 81st minute on an assist from sophomore midfielder Lilly Arellano, who capped the scoring in the 87th minute after taking a feed from Mentado.
The Bucs dominated throughout, outshooting the Jaguars 22-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Reese Cauthen earned the victory in goal and improved to 2-2 on the season.
Up next, Blinn opens its home schedule when it hosts region foe Northeast Texas Community College at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
