Whether it is free school supplies, student registration assistance, immunizations or opportunities to save on back-to-school essentials, families have access to a variety of resources in the weeks ahead.

La Vega Junior High School
Register for the 2026-27 school year and receive free school supplies while supplies last.
July 25 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Waco Convention Center
Free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and more will be available.
August 8 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
South Waco Recreation Center
Receive free school supplies, resources and support for the first day of school.
August 1 | 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Lacy Lakeview Community Center
Sign up to receive assistance with school supplies and access community resources through the wellness fair.

Save more during tax-free weekend
Back-to-school shopping can add up quickly, but Texas' annual Sales Tax Holiday offers families an opportunity to save.
During tax-free weekend, most school supplies, clothing, footwear and qualifying backpacks can be purchased without paying state sales tax. For many families, those savings can make a meaningful difference as they prepare for the school year ahead.
