A smoke shop probably isn’t the first thing that leaps to mind when people talk about wellness, but Fatty’s Smoke Shop is aiming to change that perception with a wide selection of hemp-based products for customers to explore.
“In the past, people have tended to believe that smoke shops only sold tobacco and vapes, and we do carry those items, but our wellness products are really our best sellers at the moment,” says general manager Matt Addotta.
The Texas-based Fatty’s Smoke Shop franchise has eight locations across Bryan, College Station, Waco, Hearne and San Marcos, each defined by an extensive inventory of products, accessories and related merchandise.
Hemp is the foundation of the CBD industry, with industrial hemp production valued at $238 million last year alone, according to a National Hemp Report released by the National Agricultural Statistics Service in April 2023.
“Hemp is 100% legal,” Addotta explains. “CBD and delta (THC) products are both natural cannabinoids derived from the hemp plant. CBD isn’t a psychoactive compound, but delta molecules can generate some psychoactive effects and properties.”
Research indicates that CBD may help to reduce pain and stress, anxiety and depression; improve sleep quality; and lessen chemotherapy-induced side effects.
“We offer edibles, liquid tinctures that you place under your tongue, and smokeable products like cartridges, disposals, pre-rolls and loose hemp flower,”Addotta says. “Topicals like balms, lotions, salves and creams are absorbed through the skin to provide anti-inflammatory benefits and itch relief.”

Delta Extrax, HoneyRoot Wellness, Sugar Extrax, Hidden Hills and Stoney are just a few of the most popular brands customers will find on the shelves at Fatty’s.
There are smokable delta THC items like HoneyRoot Knockout Blend 2G and Extrax Adios Blend 4.5G concentrate disposables proving to be top sellers, not to mention some of the fastest-acting products.
Fatty’s also carries wraps, papers, cartridge batteries, filters, glassware, vaporizers and other accessories.
“Customers who prefer loose hemp flower should check out our Dope THC-A flower or some of our grown-in-Texas Caprock Delta-8 Pre-Rolls,” Addotta adds. “Sometimes we’ll even have Dope THC-A diamond concentrate and other hemp-derived loose concentrates in jars.”
Shoppers looking for a more precise dosing approach to achieve the same result without the smoke have plenty of edible options to consider, but should be aware that effects can take a little longer to fully kick in, usually 30 to 60 minutes.
