Bryan vs. Cypress Springs football

Coco Gillett and Umber Christian were crowned Bryan's homecoming queen and king during halftime.

There were more standout performances than spots in The Eagle’s weekly poll, but the sports staff narrowed them down to five. Voting is open until 4 p.m. Monday.

Roderick Brown, College Station, jr., RB

Brown was the leading rusher in a punishing ground game for the Cougars in their 55-28 win over Willis. He had 35 carries for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

Trevor Collins, Brazos Christian, sr., WR

Collins was the Eagles’ top playmaker in their 45-13 win over defending district champ Beaumont Legacy. He had eight catches for 162 yards and five carries for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Gage Pahl, A&M Consolidated, sr., QB

Pahl led an offensive surge in Consol’s 66-26 win over Montgomery Lake Creek, throwing for 315 yards and seven touchdowns on 15-of-22 passing as the Tigers outscored the Lions 26-0 in the second half.

Seth Spiller, Franklin, soph., RB

Spiller was the leading rusher in the Lions’ heavy ground attack in a 60-12 win over Trinity, rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns.

Kobe Young, Cameron, sr., WR/DB

Cameron had no shortage of highlight performers in its defense of the bell, beating Rockdale 31-3. Young arguably had the biggest impact, racking up three interceptions and five tackles on defense and adding a 13-yard TD catch on offense.
