A&M Consolidated girls basketball team almost rallies past Copperas Cove

The Copperas Cove Lady Bulldawgs basketball team held on for a 54-52 nondistrict victory over the A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers on Tuesday at Tiger Gym.

Consol (1-1) climbed out of a 12-1 deficit for a 39-35 lead after three quarters, but a couple turnovers down the stretch allowed Cove (2-0) to win.

“This was a good one, we battled back,” Consol coach Wendy Hines said.

Consol junior Darby Hurley had 19 points. Mariya Scott added 12 and Jessica Ransom 10. Scott had five assists and Ransom four.

Senior point guard Madison Griffon led Cove with 18 points. Junior guard Madisen Honea added 10 points and Kaysha McCloud 10 points.

Consol will be at Navasota on Tuesday.
