Lois McGregor Hill

Jan. 8, 1924 - May 9, 2006

SOMERVILLE - Services for Lois McGregor Hill, 82, of Somerville and formerly of Baytown are set for 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.

Mrs. Hill died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. She was a teacher for 22 years for the Somerville school district.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Hill of Somerville; two daughters, Judy Hill and her partner, Chantel Landry, both of Dallas, and Darlas Hill McCauley of Highlands; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Woody and Kathy Jasper of High Springs, Fla., and John Robert Hill of Baytown; four grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Somerville, Oaklawn Cemetery Association or Somerville Historical Society.

Willie Peterson Jr.

April 29, 1923 - May 6, 2006

Services for Willie Peterson Jr., 83, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Rest-Ever Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan. A wake service will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Peterson died Saturday at Sherwood Health Care Center. He retired from International Shoe Company and the Bryan school district. Mr. Peterson had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Peterson of Bryan; five sons, Tommie Lee Green of Bryan, Bennie Green, James Peterson, Willie Peterson and Donald Peterson, all of Houston; three daughters, Diane Peterson Smith, Bobbie Peterson, both of Bryan, and Bobbie Joe Henderson of Brenham; two brothers, Charles Ray Peterson and Melvin Peterson, both of Los Angeles; two sisters, Juanita McGee of Waco and Carolyn Peterson Benton of Los Angeles; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Greater Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary L. 'Mee Maw' Johnson-Brown

April 14, 1946 - May 10, 2006

BRENHAM - Services for Mary L. "Mee Maw" Johnson-Brown, 60, of Madisonville are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Pool Chapel Baptist Church in Madisonville.

Burial will be at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Brenham.

Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday at Conroe Hospital. She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, L.J. Brown of Madisonville; four sons, Marvin Johnson Jr., Jeffery Merchant, Andra Johnson and Bo Hardin, all of Madisonville; four daughters and a son-in-law, Melody and Wayne Turner, Anna Merchant, Sara Merchant and Sandra Johnson, all of Madisonville; six brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jackie Merchant, John Moore, Jessie Moore, Roger and Helen Merchant, Nolan Moore and Terrance and Esmeralda Whaley, all of Houston; seven sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ida Faye and John Mack, Marcia Whaley, Marilyn Whaley, Georgia and Ben Walker, Janine Merchant, all of Houston, Edna and Robert Cuyler and Priscilla Tyler, all of Orange; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marion Theodore Slafka

Aug. 24, 1925 - May 9, 2006

BREMOND - Services for Marion Theodore Slafka, 80, of Bremond are set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bremond. Arrangements are under the direction of Bremond Funeral Home.

Mr. Slafka died Tuesday. He was a retired maintainer operator for the Texas Department of Transportation. He had served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Slafka of Bremond; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Pam Slafka of Bremond; a stepson and daughter-in-law, James and Claralee Gausemeier of Westphalia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy and Robert Plagens of Bryan and Beverly Slafka of San Angelo; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Vonnie and Edwin Green of Westphalia; a brother and sister-in-law, Ike and Delores Slafka of Marlin; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Cahill of Bryan, Frances Slafka, Jo Ann Warhol, Tillie and Fred Kubiak and Helen Talley, all of Bremond; a sister-in-law, Connie Slafka of Bremond; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Robert Garner

June 18, 1916 - May 6, 2006

Services for Robert Garner, 89, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bryan.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Garner died Saturday at Sheridan on Anderson in College Station.

Survivors include a son, Luther L. Garner of San Diego; seven daughters, Gladys M. Toines, Nancy Garner Johnson and Linda Garner Washington, all of Bryan, Ruby Garner Murphy and Sallie Garner Macklin, both of Houston and Hazel Garner and Brenda Garner McKinney, both of Dallas; a sister, Nancy Woods of Houston; 49 grandchildren; and 86 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ann Miller

Feb. 8, 1912 - May 9, 2006

CALDWELL - Services for Elizabeth Ann Miller, 94, of San Antonio and formerly of Deanville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Deanville.

Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Miller died Tuesday. She was a housewife.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and William Baron of Arlington; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Miller of San Antonio; and five grandchildren.

Theodor 'Mr. Pie' Edwards

March 27, 1911 - May 5, 2006

HEARNE - Services for Theodor "Mr. Pie" Edwards, 95, of Houston and formerly of Franklin are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at North New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin.

Burial will be at North and South Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Glenn Mack Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Edwards died May 5 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lida and James Brooks of Houston and Mildred Black of Galena Park; a sister, Lenora Smith of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Judson 'J.T.' Tyson Dixon

May 27, 1950 - May 5, 2006

HEARNE - Services for Judson "J.T." Tyson Dixon, 55, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Greater Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn Mack Funeral Home.

Mr. Dixon died May 5.

Survivors include two brothers, Phillip Dixon and Patrick Dixon, both of Hearne; and his mother, Norma Dixon of Hearne.

Larry Grays

Sept. 19, 1952 - May 4, 2005

Services for Larry Grays, 53, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Grays died May 4. He had worked for the railroad. Mr. Grays also served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include a daughter, Tiffany Green of Bryan; four brothers, Robert Grays Jr., Edward Lee Grays, Joe Grays and Thomas Grays, all of Bryan; three sisters, Deborah Hunter of Bryan and Candis Grays and Connie Grays, both of Houston; his parents, Robert and Emma Grays of Bryan; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 310 Martin Luther King Jr. St., Bryan, Texas 77802.
