Catherine Benford

April 25, 1930 - March 11, 2007

Services for Catherine Benford, 76, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Benford died Sunday at home.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Benford and Frankie and Linda Benford of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mentha Dunlap and Clifford Moore of Somerville and Latasha Benford of Houston; a brother, Houston Branch Jr. of Denver; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Peaceful Rest Baptist Church Mission Department.

Dorothy Roberta Henderson

Oct. 23, 1926 - March 11, 2007

Services for Dorothy Roberta Henderson, 80, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Henderson died Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

Survivors include her husband, James W. Henderson of Bryan; two sons, Jimmy Floyd and Lewis Benton, both of Dallas; a daughter, Gail R. Townsend of College Station; a brother, Lewis Benton Sr. of Dallas; a sister, Romie Williams of Dallas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Dale Burns

Jan. 18, 1945 - March 13, 2007

Robert Dale Burns, 62, of College Station died Tuesday.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Burns had served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Burns of College Station; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dale Burns and Shawn Pritchard, both of College Station, and Christopher and Kelly Searles of Brenham; and two grandchildren.

Ginger Ann Boyd

Sept. 26, 1963 - March 12, 2007

MADISONVILLE - Services for Ginger Ann Boyd, 43, of Normangee are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Rock Prairie Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Madisonville Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Rock Prairie Cemetery.

Mrs. Boyd died Monday at home.

She was a registered nurse who once worked at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. She also was an instructor at Huntsville Memorial Hospital and at Blinn College in Bryan.

Survivors include her husband, J.R. Boyd of Normangee; two sons, Brandon and Carl Aubrey Boyd III, both of Normangee; a daughter, Tara Chantel Boyd of Normangee; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Louise Hold Jr.

Nov. 12, 1924 - March 13, 2007

BRENHAM - Services for Louis Hold Jr., 82, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Mr. Hold died Tuesday at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

He was a retired draftsman and engineer with the Texas Department of Highway and Public Transportation and had worked at Sealy Mattress Co.

Survivors include his wife, Lorine Hold of Brenham; a son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Sharon Gayle Hold of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Kaye Hold and Joe Wilson of Winfield, Kan.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth C. and Albert Duch of Brenham; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Hold of Missouri City, Lucille and Edwin Bohne of Bellville, Clara Roesler and Amanda and Albert Hafer, all of Brenham; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Parish Keith Stewart

Oct. 7, 1975 - March 9, 2007

Services for Parish Keith Stewart, 31, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Recreation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Burial will be at Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart died Friday.

Survivors include his daughter, Micayla Starks of College Station; two brothers, Damon Stewart of San Antonio and Percy Saxon Jr. of Galveston; a sister, Kim Saxon of Galveston; his father, Percy Saxon Sr. of Galveston; and his godfather, Andrew Merchant of College Station.

Grady Akers

July 29, 1926 - March 13, 2007

CALDWELL - Services for Grady Akers, 80, of Caldwell are set for 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, and the family will be present at 6 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Burial will be at Chriesman Cemetery.

Mr. Akers died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He retired from the Ethel Corp. railroad crew as a plant switcher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gladys Akers of Caldwell; a son, Terry Akers of Pasadena; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Grant Lovejoy of Richmond, Va.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Laurel Akers, Nolan and Jan Akers, all of Tomball, and Herman and Joan Akers of Deer Park; and two grandchildren.

A.J. Smith

Jan. 3, 1930 - March 14, 2007

Services for A.J. Smith, 77, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at College Station Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday at Sheridan on Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Smith of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Martha and Jerry Baggett and Sharon Gilmore, all of Alamo, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Debbie Smith of Boyd; two sisters, Leslie Smith and Jean Taylor, both of Alamo, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Cecil M. Berry

March 22, 1923 - March 13, 2007

VICTORIA - Services for Cecil M. Berry, 83, of Victoria are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Berry died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Berry of Victoria; four daughters, Brenda Plant, Mary Clark, Peggy Hubbard and Deborah Demoney, all of Victoria; a sister; Louise Lee of Sweeney, nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

L.C. Thomas

Jan. 17 1915 - March 12, 2007

NAVASOTA - Services for L.C. Thomas, 92, of Navasota are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Cawthorn.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Bethel Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas died Monday at Grimes St. Joseph Hospital.

He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Joe Ethel Davis Thomas of Navasota; a stepson, A.L. Davis of Navasota; three daughters, Cynthia Thomas and Mattie Davis, both of Navasota, and Sarah Helen Thompson of Fort Worth; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
