John David (Johno) Barker, 36, of Austin, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday August 30, 2019 after a brief, but aggressive illness.

John was born May 25, 1983 in Temple, Texas. His early years were spent playing with a multitude of cousins and friends in Calvert, Texas. He attended schools at College Station, graduating in 2001 from A&M Consolidated High School. He also attended Blinn College.

John was always happiest outdoors. He participated in many sport programs such as, football, baseball, golf, disc golf, and Taekwondo, achieving the rank of Black Belt, but found his true passion in BMX bicycle riding which never quit offering challenges. He represented Specialized, competing in and winning various regional and state BMX championships.

His interest in bicycles lead him to work at Valley Cyclery and Aggieland Cyclery in College Station, and the Bicycle Sport Shop in Austin. In Austin, he also worked in construction for Drop House and Boom Town construction companies, drove for Lyft, and returned to Bicycle Sport Shop as a builder.

He is preceded in death by his brother Eric (Eazy) Isaac Barker, his grandfathers Arlie Baston Barker and Jackie (Jack) Wilson Werner, his grandmothers Catherine Ann (Kate) Rauch Barker Mullinnix and Nelle Yvonne Thornton Werner Gallagher.

He is survived by his parents David Paul and Carla Jean Werner Barker. His sister in law Karla Kristi Odom Barker and companion Troy (T) Glover, his beloved niece Erica Dakota Barker, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, as well as, his best friend and companion, his dog, Mimi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunnyside Cemetery Association, 200 Hanhart Lane, Calvert, Texas 77837 or your charity of choice.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11 AM at the Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Hearne, interment at Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert.
