ORANGE, Texas -- A plea agreement means a decade in prison for a 39-year-old former teacher and coach in Orangefield over an improper relationship with a student.

Jennifer Burton on Thursday afternoon pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault and one charge of having an improper relationship with a student.

Burton, who was a junior high school coach in volleyball, basketball and track, resigned in April.

KFDM-TV reports the investigation over 2008 alleged incidents involved a then-14-year-old female student.

Burton attorney Larry Hunter said the student "was actually an instigator for the sexual contact" and that Burton is "not 100 percent responsible for what happened."

Prosecutor Cory Kneeland said Burton is a child molester and "100 percent criminally responsible."
