BAYTOWN - Five robbers broke into a Baytown apartment Monday and terrorized three women and two children, police said.
All five victims were blindfolded and bound with duct tape. The women were pistol-whipped but declined to be taken to the hospital, authorities said.
"The robbers were very loud, yelling and screaming threats," police Chief Roger Clifford said.
A 28-year-old woman, her 10-year-old son and 3-year-old niece along with two women aged 22 and 18 were in the home when the robbers broke in early Monday. Their names were not immediately released.
Investigators said the robbers took a flat-screen television, a Sony PlayStation, jewelry and DVD players from the residence.
"We don't know yet if the robbers had any connection to the victims. One victim thought she may have recognized one of the robbers' voices," Clifford said in a story in Monday's online edition of the Houston Chronicle.
