HOUSTON - A 12-year-old boy whose arm was severed by a train when he was playing by railroad tracks with friends was in serious condition Tuesday at a Houston hospital.

A spokeswoman for Memorial Hermann Hospital would not say if the boy's arm had been reattached or if he was out of surgery.

A neighbor found the boy's arm Monday night and put it on ice before the boy was taken to the hospital.
