WEATHERFORD - Flames 10 to 12 feet high persisted for a second day Tuesday at the site of a fiery gas line accident, although the blaze was under control, officials said.
The flames were contained in a ditch and could finish burning by Wednesday, Weatherford Fire Chief George Teague said.
Workers were putting in a pipeline Monday when a backhoe poked a hole in an existing line. No one was hurt.
Both ends of the pipeline feeding the fire were shut down - one valve in Wise County and the other in Parker County, said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler.
