Eagle Staff Report
Donations were up in every category this year for the Twin City Mission's annual coat and blanket drive.
Last year, a total of 1,557 items were given away, said Ron Crozier, executive director of the non-profit charity organizations. This year, 1,854 coats, blankets and other winter items were handed out, he said.
That translates into 338 families being helped during the 2010 donation drive, as opposed to 209 in 2009, Crozier said.
The organization gave away 1,167 coats, 359 blankets and 107 various warm clothing articles.
"There were a tremendous amount of donations from the community," Crozier said. "Word got out two months ago this was going to be happening and the community just really got behind it."
