Local organizations that want to sponsor cultural events in downtown Bryan may be eligible for funding from the new Downtown Arts and Culture Association.

The group, which is sponsored by the Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association, was formed to promote arts and culture in the downtown area.

The new association recently announced it will be awarding mini-grants, ranging from $100 to $1,000, to support and encourage groups that want to organize downtown events.

The deadline is April 30 to apply for grants that will fund events held between May and September. In special circumstances, the board will consider awarding grants larger than $1,000.
