A College Station woman was charged Saturday with dragging a police officer a short distance with her car.
Tranika Nicole Montgomery, 21, was driving near Luther Street and Montclair Avenue when officers pulled over her Dodge Neon for loud music, according to a police affidavit.
Police had Montgomery out of the car and were arresting her for outstanding warrants when she pulled away, got back into the Neon and put the car in drive, the court documents state.
An officer who gave chase and managed to get halfway into the car was dragged 5 to 10 feet, struggling with Montgomery before she was able to remove the keys, according to the affidavit.
The officer was treated for minor injuries.
Montgomery was charged with aggravated assault on a public servant, failure to identify, resisting arrest and evading detention. She remained at the Brazos County Jail late Saturday on $20,500 bond.
