Bryan school board trustees Monday approved the appointments of two new principals for the 2010-11 school year.

Lane Buban will replace Paul Hord at Sam Rayburn Middle School, where Buban has been assistant principal since 2006, officials said.

Buban is a former science teacher. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M, as well as a master's degree from Sam Houston State University.

Hord will be working in an administrative position with the district, officials said.

After 34 years with the district, David Ogden is retiring as the principal for Branch Elementary. His replacement will be Jason Puente, who has worked as an assistant principal at Jane Long Middle School since 2008.

Puente has worked as assistant principal at Fannin and Neal elementary schools, and has experience teaching Texas history, school officials said.

He earned his bachelor's from Texas A&M, his master's from Sam Houston State and is working toward a doctorate of education.

Both men will take over the positions in the fall, officials said.
