A 46-year-old College Station man was killed Friday afternoon after authorities say the bike he was riding was hit by a vehicle.

According to Sgt. Stephen Woodard with the Department of Public Safety, Kenneth Spence was riding a bicycle northbound on the access road of Texas 6 near the intersection of the Peach Creek Cutoff around 4 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Suburban. The driver of the Suburban told authorities of being blinded by the sun.

Authorities said Spence was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. No charges have been filed, and the incident remains under investigation.

The northbound access road was temporarily closed to traffic while authorities investigated.
