A 39-year-old Bryan man was in the Brazos County Jail Friday, accused of holding his girlfriend at gunpoint.

Police said officers were called just after 10 p.m. Thursday to the 1500 block of East 29th Street, where they reported finding Joe Ruiz Marin III with blood on his face.

A woman told officers that she had dated Marin for more than four years and he moved in with her earlier in the week after being released from prison, according to the police report.

She said the two had gotten into an argument about Marin's drinking and he threw her on the floor, kicked her in the ribs and choked her, according to the police report.

The woman managed to get outside, but the fight continued and Marin used the woman's pistol to demand she take him somewhere, according to the police report.

The woman told police that Marin held the gun to her head and tried to cut off several of her fingers.

Aggravated assault is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Marin was being held without bail.
