After widespread objection from students and alumni to the design change of  Texas A&M University System and flagship school seals, the Board of Regents today unanimously approved to keep the original seal on diplomas.

In April, regents approved a consent agenda item without discussion to swap out the 52-year-old “T Star logo” at the seal’s center with the more visible “Block TAM” logo in what officials said was an effort to enhance the school’s visibility and streamline brand identity.

“When you talk about brand identity, having that ‘Block TAM’ is something that brings it all together,” A&M System Chancellor John Sharp said in April.

Eagle reporter Sam Peshek will have more from the meeting later.
