Dykes earns player of the week honors after scoring six touchdowns

Overall Player of the Week: Iola WR/DB Tyler Dykes ran three times for 70 yards and three TDs in a 62-9 win over Colmesneil. He had two punt returns, for 40 and 78, and both were for touchdowns. Dykes had four receptions for 120 yards and one receiving TD.

Offensive Player of the Week: In his first game back from an ankle fracture, Brazos Christian RB Jesse Honnas ran 33 times for 346 yards and five TDs to lead the Eagles to a key district win, 40-34 over Beaumont Legacy.

Defensive Player of the Week: Cameron DL D’Andre Adams had eight tackles (five solos, one for a loss) and recorded a sack. Adams caused three fumbles and recovered two.

Upset of the week: Playing at home, Bryan was a 15-point underdog to College Station in Harris Ratings Weekly, but scored the final 10 points of the game to win, 27-17.

Here are other Brazos Valley standouts for week 10 of the high school football season:

Anderson-Shiro RB Daylan Williams carried 32 times for 277 yards and five touchdowns in the Owls’ 44-29 win over the Groveton Indians.

In Rockdale’s 27-21 win over Troy, RB Davion Ford rushed 25 times for 158 yards and a touchdown. QB David Franklin hit 7 of 14 passes for 181 yards and two TDs and WR Cristian Lara caught four for 143 yards and a score.


Franklin QB Kameron Fuller connected on 11 of 15 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns as the Lions clinched first place in District 12-3A Division II with a 28-6 win over Lexington. DB Thomas Box had two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. In the loss, Lexington QB Walker Hess completed 14 of 44 passes for 188 yards but was picked off three times.

Bryan RB Jarvis Lister ran 13 times for 142 yards and two TDs in the Vikings win over College Station. K Angel Quiroga had two field goals and a successful onside kick. DB Gus Hancock had six tackles, forced a fumble and returned an interception for a score. In the Cougars’ loss, Chris Sen-

nette carried 15 times for 151 yards with one TD.

Centerville QB Hunter Free completed both of his pass attempts and both went for touchdowns. He threw for 91 yards when the Tigers took control in the first quarter, winning 48-0 over Hull-Daisetta.

A&M Consolidated QB Mason Hickson hit 17 of 33 passes for 280 yards and four scores to lead the Tigers past Rudder, 59-19. WR Rodney Jernigan caught four for 91 and a touchdown. Rudder RB Jamall Collins carried 21 times for 102 yards. Jaylen Steele had six tackles four assists and an interception.

In Iola’s win, QB Will Nevill completed 6 of 8 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. LB/RB Colton Renick had 13 tackles (one for a loss) and ran nine times for 76 yards and two TDs.

Cameron defeated Florence, 28-8, clinching first place in District 10-3A Division I behind the running of RB Traion Smith, who had 15 carries for 145 yards and two TDs. QB Jacob Smitherman completed 6 of 11 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.

Sophomore RB Tamarcus McWilliams had 22 carries for 90 yards to keep Brenham in the playoff race with a 20-13 victory over Waller.

In Madisonville’s 35-21 loss to Tarkington, Mustangs’ QB Ben Phillips hit 9 of 19 passes for 179 yards.

RB Zacchaeus Williams had nine carries for 179 yards and four TDs in Calvert’s 62-0 win over Buckholts. Chris Luster had one carry for 18 yards and a touchdown, with eight tackles and an interception returned 32 yards for a score.

Leon’s Corbin Watson had 11 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown and intercepted a pass in the Cougars’ 55-16 victory over Hearne. Hearne QB Derek Gibson hit 10 of 24 passes for 123 yards but had four interceptions. DB Alex Ramirez had 11 tackles and an interception for the Eagles.

In a 30-6 loss to Granger, freshman QB Caleb Harmel led the Panthers with 25 carries for 84 yards.

RB Keyondrick Philio rushed 10 times for 124 yards and three TDs and had six tackles on defense in Navasota’s 73-0 win over Wheatley. QB Shelton Eppler completed 14 of 23 passes for 284 yards and five TDs. Kae’ron Baker caught six for 93 and scored three times.

In a 27-0 win over Bartlett, Milano RB Sethe Pugh had 17 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
