Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Royce Hickman recently was given a distinguished service award from a state organization.

The award was presented in late June at the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executive' Annual Excellence Awards banquet in College Station, as chamber groups from across the state convened.

The award is presented annually to individuals who have contributed greatly to the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Association, according to organizers. The award is presented by the sitting chair of TCCE to a member who has gone above the call of duty to serve not only their own organization but fellow professionals and colleagues, as well as the citizens of Texas through multiple volunteering efforts, they said. Hickman has been on the board of directors for 12-plus years.

Hickman was recognized for his leadership as chairman of the state organization, specifically for guiding the organization through a staff change and beginning the strategic planning process that was the start of the activities that have led the organization to its position today, officials said.
