This is a re-posting of a trip I made to Somerville Wednesday October 13, 2010 to help the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department map the proposed paddle trails.  We rode the big airboat all over the upper lake with Ron Smith, Mike Gore, Abe Moore and Kyle Thigpen, all from different departments within Texas Parks & Wildlife. Abe is the one with the video camera. I didn't know they were going to shoot video of this trip, but it certainly made the day more interesting.

As the representative and volunteer from the Partners at Nails Creek, I was there to help in any way I could and mostly stayed behind the scenes and out of the way, but I know the whole area quite well so I just shared when asked. I've worked with inland fisheries before, assisting with electro-fishing surveys on Lake Somerville, Gibbons and Lake Bryan, so I pretty much know the drill. All in all, we had a very good day, and I think they got some good video but it was a new and exciting experience for me.

UPDATE*  This is the TPWD video made from that days filming.

One thing about the airboat, you sure can’t sneak up on anything!
