HEARNE — Services for Wanda Earlene Barr, 60, of Waco are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Charles Hein will officiate. Burial will be in Elliott Cemetery.

Ms. Barr died Saturday.

She was born in Gorman.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Crowdis and David Crowdis, both of North Carolina; two brothers, Richard Jolly of Houston and Donald Jolly of Alabama; and a sister, Romona Stone of Hearne.

Minerva Alica Garcia

Nov. 23, 1925 — June 13, 2004

MADISONVILLE — Services for Minerva Alica Garcia, 78, of Bedias are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bedias Baptist Church.

The Rev. Jerald Brown and Brother Dale Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garcia died Sunday at her home.

She was born in Benavides and lived in Bedias since 1971, formerly living in North Zulch, Iola and Bryan. She was a member of Bedias Baptist Church. She owned Garcia’s Restaurant in Bedias and Evans Restaurant in Iola for many years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle Evans.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle Glenn Jr. and Debbie Evans of College Station and James D. and Becky Evans and Ronald Wayne and Linda Evans, all of Iola; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Olga and Ray Portales and Jeanni M. Evans, all of Bedias, and Nora and Nolan Wren of Iola; six brothers, Fernando Galvan Jr. of Benavides, Juan Galvan and Rudy Galvan, both of Beeville, Oscar Galvan of Del Monte, Calif., Adan Galvan of San Diego, Texas, and Hector Galvan of Bedias; a sister, Alma G. Galvan of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Jackie Lee ‘Jack’ Goodwin

March 29, 1935— June 12, 2004

SOMERVILLE — Graveside services for Jackie Lee “Jack” Goodwin, 69, of Somerville are set for 10 a.m. Thursday in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.

The Rev. Roy Norsworthy will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.

Mr. Goodwin died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Seymour and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956. He worked on highway and road construction for the Army Corps of Engineers in Somerville.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Goodwin of Somerville; a daughter, Carol Ann Flentge of Brenham; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jackie Leon and Sheri Goodwin and Clarence Berdell Goodwin, all of Phoenix, James Earl and Lisa Goodwin of Richland Hills and Coy Eugene and Stephanie Goodwin of Conroe; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jeanette V. Meier

March 2, 1930 — June 12, 2004

SOMERVILLE — Services for Jeanette V. Meier, 74, of Somerville and formerly of Houston, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville.

The Rev. Butch Strickland will officiate. Burial will be in Loewe Family Cemetery in Washington County.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., as well as from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Meier died Saturday.

She was born in Woodville, Maine, and lived in Somerville since 1989. She lived in Houston from 1949 until her retirement in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Meier of Somerville; a daughter, Nancy Bible of Waller; two sons, David Hardy of Somerville and David Meier of Crockett; three brothers, Frank Spinney of Clinton, Maine, Albert Spinney of Washburn, Maine, and Sonny Ward of Pervis, Miss.; three sisters, Marsha Droese of Grand Rapids, Mich., Linda Gooch of Kathleen, Ga., and Dot McCade of Presque Isle, Maine; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous other family members.

Gladys Jaster Krause

Dec. 6, 1925 — June 13, 2004

BURTON — Services for Gladys Jaster Krause, 78, of Round Top are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top.

The Rev. John David Nedbalek will officiate. Burial will be in Hill Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.

Mrs. Krause died Sunday in La Grange.

She was born in Carmine. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and numerous civic organizations. She was a retired teacher and taught at Gay Hill, Giddings, Round Top-Carmine, the Brenham school district and Texas State Teachers College. She was a graduate of La Grange High School, Blinn College and Sam Houston State Teachers College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Krause Jr.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Junice and Frank Walther; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Jaster and Helen Krause Leonhardt; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Patricia Krause and Clarence and Monica Krause.

Daisy Lisembee

Oct. 14, 1911 — June 13, 2004

Services for Daisy Lisembee, 92, of Hempstead are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Curtis Hallford of Corner Stone Baptist Church in The Woodlands will officiate. Burial will be in Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lisembee died Sunday at Amazing Grace Personal Care Home.

She was born in Cross and lived in Hempstead for 15 years. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lisembee.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Benny Hooker of Hempstead and Lenora Gross of The Woodlands; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Delma Lee LaSalle of Louisiana and James Vido and Yvonne LaSalle of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Jackie LaSalle of Magnolia; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
