Top 25 Women's Roundup: Michigan State defeats South Florida

No. 13 Michigan State 81, South Florida 66: TAMPA, Fla. - Liz Shimek scored 28 points, and Lindsay Bowen added 22 to lead No. 13 Michigan State past South Florida 81-66 on Saturday.

Rene Haynes had 11 points and seven assists for the Spartans (6-2), who are undefeated in six games against unranked teams.

Jessica Dickson scored 25 points, and Nalini Miller had 16 to pace the Bulls (6-2) against their third consecutive ranked opponent. Shantia Grace added 13 for South Florida.

The Spartans scored the first nine points of the game, but the Bulls moved ahead with a 21-6 run.

No. 11 DePaul 86, Wis.-Green Bay 62: CHICAGO - Jenna Rubino scored 13 of her team-high 18 points in the first half, and Allie Quigley had 15 points for No. 11 DePaul.

Khara Smith added 10 points and 12 rebounds for DePaul (8-1).

Nicole Soulis had a game-high 19 points for Wisconsin-Green Bay (5-2). Kayla Groh and Popp each added 12 points.

No. 14 Minnesota 83, Washington State 57: MINNEAPOLIS - Jamie Broback scored 16 points and the Gophers extended their home winning streak to four games.

Broback, making her first start of the season, sat out much of the first half because of foul trouble. She finished with 7-for-12 shooting, six assists and five rebounds.

Shannon Schonrock shot 6-for-8 and finished with 15 points. April Calhoun scored 13 and Liz Podominick had 10 for the Gophers (6-1).

Katie Appleton had 13 points for the Cougars (6-2) who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

No. 17 Georgia 106, Savannah St. 34: ATHENS, Ga. - Sherill Baker scored 19 points, and Megan Darrah and Tasha Humphrey had 18 apiece for No. 17 Georgia, which limited Savannah State to one field goal in the first half.

Cori Chambers added 15 points for the Bulldogs (7-2).

Tykira McDaniel scored 12 points to lead Savannah State (1-7), which had 37 turnovers and finished 9-for-39 from the field.

No. 21 Vanderbilt 82, Miami (Ohio) 50: NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Caroline Williams scored all 22 of her points in the first half to lead No. 21 Vanderbilt.

The Commodores (8-2) opened the game with a 13-1 run, capped by Williams' 3-pointer with 15:52 left in the half. Williams finished with a pair of 3-pointers to give Vanderbilt a 40-17 halftime lead.

Cindi Merrill had 23 points and Katie Guerriero added 10 for the Redhawks (3-5).

No. 23 Utah 81, Gonzaga 54: SALT LAKE CITY - Shona Thorburn had 22 points and a career-high 13 assists to lead No. 23 Utah.

Kim Smith had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Utes (6-1), and Julie Larsen shot 3-for-6 on 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

Ashley Anderson scored 16 points and Katy Ridenour had 10 points and a team-high six rebounds for Gonzaga (3-7), which was outrebounded 46-25.
