MISSOURI CITY - The Bryan Lady Vikings' Courtney Ford gave up just one hit to Katy Cinco Ranch, but it was one too many as the No. 3 team in the state defeated the Lady Vikings 1-0 in the opening round-robin game of the Missouri City Tournament.

Bryan bounced back in the second game with a decisive 8-0 victory over Friendswood. Katye Hamlin pitched the six-inning shutout for her fourth victory in seven decisions.

Abby Culbreth, Angela Spittler, Holly Laine and Alex Survant each had two hits for the Lady Vikings, who moved to 5-6 on the season.

Survant became the 11th Lady Viking to play in 100 games in the opener and Angela Spittler broke Jessica Portales' 12-year-old mark for total bases with her 147th in the second game.
