Bryan powerlifters finish third: MONTGOMERY -- The Bryan Viking boys powerlifting team finished third at the Montgomery meet Saturday.
Bryan's Stephan Richard won the gold medal in the 198-pound division. Teammates Ike Jones (181) and Keith Lewis (275) finished second in their divisions, while Deontre Beasly (275) finished third, Tim Hines (heavyweight) fifth, Stephan Ellis (148) and Clayton Leeth (heavyweight) sixth and Darius Bass (148), Keith Wells (165) and Tracy Alfaro (198) finished eighth.
Bryan's Jennifer Perez won the gold in the girls 114-pound division.
Brazos Christian wins 5-0: Brad Brown scored two goals, one coming on a penalty kick, to lead the Brazos Christian soccer team past Austin San Juan Diego 5-0 on Saturday.
Zach Castillo, Zach Reinisch and Evan Choi each added a goal for the Eagles (5-4-2).
Brazos Christian will play at Austin Khabele on Thursday.
Consol Lady Tigers beat Pfugerville: GEORGETOWN -- The A&M Consolidated girls soccer team defeated Pflugerville 2-0 on Saturday in the Georgetown Lady Governor's Cup.
Midway through the first half, Consol senior Emily Smith's shot deflected off a Pflugerville player, and junior Vicky Wilhelm knocked in the loose ball to give Consol a 1-0 lead.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Smith got another clean breakaway, drew out the goalkeeper and scored to give the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Consol also lost 2-0 to Grapevine and 1-0 to Cedar Park in the Cup.
Consol will open District 12-5A play at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Killeen Ellison. The JV match will start at 5 p.m.
Lady Rattlers win consolation in New Caney: NEW CANEY -- The Navasota girls soccer team won consolation at the New Caney tournament Saturday, winning three straight after losing the opener.
Navasota, one of the two Class 3A schools in the tournament, lost 1-0 to Hardin-Jefferson to open the tournament.
Navasota then shut out Caney Creek 3-0 with Cailey McLain scoring two goals and assisting another by Mischel Alpizar.
Navasota followed with a 3-1 victory over Brookshire Royal.
In the consolation game, the Lady Rattlers beat North Shore 3-1 to claim the school's first girls soccer trophy of any kind.
Navasota dominated early, netting two goals in the first 10 minutes of play with Cailey McLain scoring first followed by senior forward Lourdes Paramo's goal on a header.
North Shore cut Navasota's lead to 2-1 with 5 minutes left in the first half.
But in the second half, McLain scored again to help seal the victory.
Senior Taylor Hagan had 11 saves in goal for Navasota.
Navasota will host Huntsville at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Bryan wrestlers take sixth at Hurricane Classic: HOUSTON -- The Bryan boys wrestling team finished sixth in the 28-team Hurricane Classic on Saturday at Klein Collins High School.
Kevin White led Bryan by winning the 140-pound division.
Also for Bryan, Logan Meekma took second at 112; Edgar Davila (119) placed third; Zach Escobar (125) and Tracy Hodges (145) fourth; Kendall Gilbert (heavyweight) fifth and David Jones (215) sixth.
The Lady Vikings' Victoria Huitt placed fourth at 165.
Bryan will face Copperas Cove on Thursday at A&M Consolidated.
