Gause Junior High 34, St. Joseph Junior High 14: The St. Joseph Junior High football team lost to Gause 34-14 on Thursday to open the 2009 season for the Eagles.

St. Joseph will host Brazos Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Navasota Freshman 21, Stafford 6: Quarterback Kadarius Baker threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Navasota Freshman beat Stafford on Thursday.

Baker found Austin Collins with a 10-yard touchdown pass and Howard Horn with a 12-yarder before scoring on a 2-yard run. David Rangel converted the first PAT and Baker found Collins with a pass for a 2-point conversion.

Navasota (1-0) hosts Bellville at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Navasota JV 27, Hearne 0: Jacob Malek threw two touchdowns to Ernest Jacobs and ran for another as the Navasota JV team shut out Hearne on Thursday.

Malek found Jacobs with touchdown passes of 32 and 27 yards and had a 12-yard touchdown run. Cristian Garcia added the Rattlers' other touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Navasota (1-0) hosts Bellville at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Somerville 8th 40, Navasota 7th & 8th White 8: The Navasota 7th and 8th grade White football teams combined to play Somerville, but lost 40-8 on Thursday.

Bryan Pursley scored Navasota's only touchdown on a 24-yard run. Other offensive leaders for Navasota were Paul Flores, Bryan Pursley, Brock Meekins, Desmond Henderson and Dean Gessner. Defensively, Kyle Stafford, Daniel Martinez and Justin Parrot played well.

Navasota will play at Bellville on Thursday.

Brazos Christian Middle School 30, Texas School for the Deaf MS 0: AUSTIN - Brazos Christian's Briley Landers blocked a punt and ran it in for a touchdown in the Eagles' win. Landers also had a sack.

Riley Garner (38 yards) and Sam Thomasson (7 yards) both had touchdown runs for Brazos Christian (2-0). Justin Duewall caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Wright. Cooper Owen ran in two PATs. Wright also ran in a PAT and caused a fumble. Duewall and Jeyton McNair both covered muffed punts by TSD and Brandon Bollin blocked a punt.

The Brazos Christian defense held TSD to minus 40 yards. Kenny Honnas and Garner both had six tackles and John Gillett caused a fumble.

Rudder Freshman 30, Brookshire-Royal 24: The Rudder Freshman football team defeated Brookshire-Royal 30-24 on Thursday.

Rudder's Justin Johnson scored on a 79-yard fumble recovery. Also scoring for Rudder were Damion Rittenhouse on a 10-yard run, Trey Guyton on a 51-yard run and Kamrin Bettencourt on a 2-yard run.

Brady O'Neal caused and recovered a fumble while teammate Bear Reeves played well for the Rudder defense.

Rudder (2-0) will play at Hearne at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Consol JV Silver 27, Austin Westlake 6: Justin Benden scored three touchdowns as the Consol JV Silver team beat Austin Westlake.

Benden found Jeremy Capps with a 23-yard touchdown pass before scoring on a pair of 1-yard runs. Dustin Aleman also scored on a 71-yard run while Justin Zimmerman converted three PATs.

Fred Goodman and Zach Cheyne each had interceptions for the Consol defense while Sonny Farris recovered a fumble. Also playing well defensively was Neil Devin.

Offensive standouts were Aaron Terry, Eric Gann and Ruben Pensado.

Consol (2-0) hosts Temple on Sep. 24.

Consol JV Maroon 7, Austin Westlake 6: Jordan Jeter provided Consol with its victory margin after he converted the PAT after Chris Ceazer's 10-yard touchdown run as the Consol JV Maroon team beat Austin Westlake.

David Bright recovered a fumble for Consol while Caden Walker, Keydarian Ragsdale and Trent Hall played well defensively.

Offensively, Patrick Galloway, Drew Morgan and Dillon Smith played well.

Consol (1-1) hosts Temple on Sep. 24.
