BRUCEVILLE -- The Franklin Lions got a big special teams play to seal a 42-28 victory over winless Bruceville-Eddy in District 12-2A Division II action.
Franklin (8-2, 4-2) was nursing a 28-21 lead when Austin Dees returned a blocked punt 5 yards for a touchdown to give the Lions a two-touchdown lead late in the third quarter.
Franklin's offense stayed almost exclusively on the ground and found success with 334 rushing yards. Dimitri Witherspoon ran for 122 yards and scored twice, including a 52-yard touchdown run to give the Lions a 28-21 lead with 2:36 left in the third quarter. Derek Schultz chipped in 63 yards and another score for the Lions.
