SALADO - A&M Consolidated's girls golf team shot a final-round 349 Wednesday at Mill Creek Golf Club to win the District 13-5A championship.
The Lady Tigers finished with a three-day total of 1,017. Second-place Harker Heights came from behind to beat Bryan, finishing at 1,139 after a third-round 375. Bryan took third at 1,142 after a third-round 390.
Consol's Casey Grice won individual medalist honors, shooting 83 Wednesday for a three-round total of 243. Consol teammate Erin Jang took second at 246 after a 93, and Consol's Kimberly Gibson was third at 253 after an 82.
"I was happy for all our girls, but Kim Gibson really led the way today," Consol coach Mike Terral said. "She has been so steady for us. She is the junior mixed in with the four freshmen, and she has provided a wonderful model for work ethic on our team. The younger girls need look no further than to her to see how work and preparation can pay off. We are proud of all the girls, but I think they are especially happy for her."
Two Bryan Lady Vikings also qualified for the Class 5A Region II tournament, with Ashley McCarley shooting 96 for a 264 total and Kasey Boykin shooting 89 for a 267 total.
Consol's second team finished fifth at 1,303 after a 426 team total Wednesday.
The Region II tournament is April 24-25 at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.

Kitchens wins second subvarsity tournament: MONTGOMERY - College Station's Kameron Kitchens shot a 38 to win the eighth grade boys division at Montgomery's junior high tournament that was played at April Sound. Alexander Zietsman, also of College Station, shot a 35 to win the seventh grade boys division.
Bryan's A team shot a team 173 to win the eighth grade boys division, with College Station two shots back in second place. Bryan's Cody Meier and Sam Destefano tied for third place individually, with Meier winning the score card playoff.
College Station A won the seventh grade boys division with a 159.
In the girl's eighth grade division, College Station A took third place (241) while Bryan took second in the seventh grade girls division (238).
