College Station police name new spokesman

Eagle staff report

Lt. Mark Langwell will take over as public information officer for the College Station Police Department on Monday.

Langwell has been with the department for 22 years. He moves from the patrol division to become the department’s official spokesman, where he has served as an officer, sergeant and lieutenant.

During his tenure with College Station, Langwell also has been involved with research and planning, criminal investigations, been a school resource officer and managed the department’s accreditation process.

Langwell has been involved in the community away from the department as well, serving as an active member of A&M Consolidated High School’s Tiger Club.

Langwell will serve as the department’s primary contact with the media to provide information about crimes, arrests and programs.

Lt. Rodney Sigler, who has served as the department’s November 2001, will move to the night shift. Sigler attends graduate school classes at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service during the day.

Sigler will supervise patrol officers.
