Eagle Staff Report

VICTORIA -- A nine-run fourth inning by the Victoria Generals was far too much for the Brazos Valley Bombers to overcome Monday as they were eliminated from the Texas Collegiate League playoffs with a 13-2 loss in Game 2 of their best-of-3 semifinal series.

Victoria led 13-0 before BV got on the scoreboard with single runs in the seventh and eighth. Drew Flaniken took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs -- four earned -- in three innings. The Bombers committed three errors.

Casey Dykes led BV offensively, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Victoria's Mike Davis homered twice and drove in six runs.

Before the game, Bombers closer Joaquin Hinojosa was named the top reliever in the Texas Collegiate League. The Texarkana Junior College product, who will play at Texas A&M next season, finished 2-1 with six saves in 13 appearances. He didn't allow an earned run all season.
