Attempted rape under investigation

College Station police are investigating a report that a woman was forced out of her car at gunpoint early Saturday morning by a man who attempted to rape her.

The 23-year-old told police she was stopped at the intersection of Tarrow Street and Spring Loop at 3:23 a.m. when a man forced her out of the vehicle and tried to sexually assault her, according to a police statement.

She told police she fought her way back into the car and was able to escape unharmed, according to the statement. No description of the man was given.

The case has been turned over to the police department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
