Navy Fireman Simon A. Hernandez, son of Mary E. Hernandez of College Station and Roger Hernandez of College Station, currently is in the Arabian Gulf supporting the global war on terrorism while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.

Hernandez is a 1999 graduate of Timber Academy High School of College Station and joined the Navy in December 1999.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Benjamin T. West, son of Carol J. West of Springfield, Ill., and Joseph E. West of Brenham, is currently participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Arabian Gulf while assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Milius, homeported in San Diego.

West joined the Navy in January 1988.

Nicholas B. Naquin of College Station was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2002 semester at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. To be selected for this honor, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Naquin is the son of Howard and Sheree Naquin and attended A&M Consolidated High School. He is a history major and will graduate in May 2003.
