The Brazos Valley Branch of the American Red Cross saluted volunteers during its appreciation reception at the Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley.
"The Brazos Valley is blessed with volunteers from the American Red Cross," Brazos County Commissioner Kenny Mallard told volunteers and special guests at the Nov. 17 gathering. "The entire community volunteer effort contributed to the success of the relief effort."
Nancy Ray-Mitchell, Heart of Texas Area Chapter board member in Waco, expressed the importance of continued training and hope that volunteers will stay involved. Branch manager Sharon Zambrzycki thanked Glenn Duhon, vice president of Lamar Bank, for the bank's sponsorship of the reception.
Honorees were thanked for their efforts during disaster relief for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita evacuees. Their contribution was key to the success and effectiveness of our community's response.
